Forum FAQ's

What is the SHiNE Forum?

  • A two-way communication tool only for current SHiNE members.
  • Advertisement free.
  • User-friendly.
  • Topically organized to makes viewing easier.
  • Cool tools. The Forum has many tools for navigation and use. "My Assistant" is one such tool, it immediately pulls up previously unseen messages (among many other things).
  • A separate Kid's Forum -- adult monitored.
  • Encourage a sense of community among SHiNE families.
  • Acts as a document storage house containing documents for only the eyes of the membership.

What the SHiNE Forum is not

  • It is not a communication tool for the purpose of sending out messages that need to go out to ALL members. There are some families, about 10-15% of the membership, who choose not to be on the Forum.
  • Messages that need to go out to all members are sent (in BCC) by the SHiNE Secretary through the Members Distribution List.

Forum messages will NOT go into a Forum subscriber's email inbox.

The ONLY way SHiNE Forum messages may be read is by going to the Forum Site at: http://forums.shine-hs.invisionzone.com

I visit the Forum often. How can I get to the Forum quickly, easily and directly?

  • By creating a Shortcut on your Desktop! A shortcut is an icon on a computer desktop. When you double click on a shortcut icon you go directly to a specific web site. Instructions for creating a shortcut.

Where is the SHiNE Forum located and what does it look like?

I am so confused! Web Site... Member's Forum... Distribution List... What's the difference?

  • The Web Site is a separate entity linked with the Forum.
    • The Web Site is completely PUBLIC.
    • The Forum is completely PRIVATE to subscribing SHiNE members.
  • The Distribution List is for the distribution of urgent messages, business correspondence, and announcements to ALL members. This is done by the SHiNE Secretary (e-mail: info@shine-hs.com).
  • The Forum is a two-way, organized information exchange and storage place. Documents like Learning Matters are stored on the forum.

I thought I was on a Forum. How do I know for sure?

How do I join the Forum?

  • Go to http://forums.shine-hs.invisionzone.com and the Forum will walk you through the steps to join.
  • Where it says: Welcome Guest ( Log In | Register ) click on Register
  • Review the Registration Terms & Rules. If you wish to continue, click on the box that says: I have read, understood and agree to these rules and conditions and then click on Register
  • Fill in the blanks and hit Submit my registration
