Information about the SHiNE Centre
Now that we have it -- What do we do with it?
SHiNE Centre was created from a dream. Members wanted a place where SHiNE families could connect with each other, where children and youth could learn together. And so, in July of 2006, SHiNE Centre was born.
Since then, we've heard lots of great comments about SHiNE Centre. We also have come to understand that there is some confusion as to what SHiNE is and what the Centre is for, so we offer up some clarification:
1. SHiNE is an organization that helps its members connect. SHiNE is here to help and support parents and families in their homeschooling adventure. Individual members organize activities, programming, and field trips that their children are interested in, and then invite other SHiNE members to participate.
Executive members are often also involved in organizing field trips & activities. Providing programming is not the mandate of the SHiNE Executive. These individuals are organizing these programs in addition to their executive responsibilites.
2. At this time, SHiNE Centre is not open regular hours. All activities at the SHiNE Centre will be listed on the SHiNE Calendar. When an event is not scheduled, no one will be there. When an event is scheduled that requires pre-registration, we ask that only registered participants go to SHiNE Centre that day, in order not to disrupt the programs. If you require information about SHiNE or homeschooling, please contact info*NOWAY*@shine-hs.com. (NOTE: Please remove the *NOWAY* to send an email.)
Everyone is welcome to drop by during a SHiNE Centre Open House.
3. Members are welcome to book SHiNE Centre for their programs and activities. Please contact an executive member for more information about booking SHiNE Centre.
4. SHiNE does NOT offer Drop-Off Programming. When a member organizes an activity, they are doing so because it is an activity that their family would like to participate in. The member who organizes the activity is simply doing that - collecting and sharing information and getting the group together. They are still there to enjoy and participate in the activity with their children.
